Changes Are Constent
Changing interests and focuses in our lives make life more interesting and FUN. With that in mind I have added a couple more blogs: Preschool Learning Adventure and Mama's Reading Nook both are linked to Primarily A Mama blog. This will stay as my main page, but the others you can access through the tabs above. I will make excerpt posts here for each post written on the other blogs and link them so you can just click and go. I hope this will help keep things better organized and clean looking for myself and all of you.

Family Members Have Important Responsiblities. March 2009 week 1
"The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families.... Stop Here (we will finish it next week with Mothers).
For the Younger children I will read this story "Daddy's Sunshine" from the March 2009, Friend.
After we read the story we will talk about how hard Dads work and things we can do to help them. Dads have to preside, provide, and protect the family. That is a lot for one person to do and it can be hard some times.
I have asked some brethren in the ward to wright up a short story or description on how they Preside, Protect, Provide for their family. I assigned them one aspect to focus on.
(FYI - This is harder then it seems)
Split the board into three parts, label each part: Preside - Protect - Provide
As each example from the brethren are read the children guess which label it goes under.
I will also be using scripture stories to illustrate these aspect of the father's role:
GAK 103 Noah and the Ark - Noah Protected his family by following the Lord's commandment of building an ark before the flood came. Because of this his family was keep safe
GAK 119 Adam and Eve teaching children - Adam Provided spiritual teaching to his children. He taught the gospel so his family could follow the the path backto Heavenly Father.
GAK 204 and 206 - Joseph was Jesus Christ earthly father (step father for a literal definition). Joseph Protected Jesus as a baby, from being killed by following the angels direction to leave for Egypt. He them Provided training in a trade (work) and (I am sure that he had the family go to church)
GAK 302 - Lehi Presided over his family by letting them know what the Lord had told or shown him then let his children choose for themselves. It talked to each one and gave them direction and read the scriptures to them. In the end he knew that his children would have to choose their way.
* There are some children that do not have a Father who lives with them. Show that through the examples the boys are learning how to be a future father and the roles he will have in his future family.
